Heat pump manufacturer since 1968 – Made in Germany
WATERKOTTE GmbH is a German heat pump manufacturer headquartered in Bochum. Company founder Klemens Oskar Waterkotte developed the first German (geothermal) heat pump in 1968 and heated his own home with geothermal energy. Today the company manufactures series-produced, cascadable heat pumps with a power range of 1 to 300 kW for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The portfolio includes air-source heat pumps, geothermal heat pumps, propane heat pumps, as well as systems for hygienic domestic hot water heating and building automation with control management and monitoring. Research, development and production are bundled at the headquarters in the MARK 51°7 innovation quarter in Bochum; since the relocation in 2025, production capacity has been significantly expanded. WATERKOTTE belongs to the Swedish NIBE Group and supplies customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition, the company offers consulting, system design, funding advice, remote and on-site maintenance as well as training through the WATERKOTTE Academy.

Heat sources and system technology
Air-source heat pumps (air-water)
Use outdoor air as heat source, as cascades for high capacities in commercial and industrial construction.
Geothermal heat pumps
Use the constant temperature of the ground for high annual coefficients of performance in base-load operation.
Propane heat pumps
Rely on the natural refrigerant propane (R290) as an environmentally friendly solution.
Groundwater heat pumps
Use the year-round constant temperature of groundwater as an efficient heat source.
