About Wax Solutions
Wax Solutions GmbH is a start-up founded in 2023 in Versmold (East Westphalia) that develops customer-specific biobased barrier coatings and additives for the paper and packaging industry. The goal is to replace fossil-based plastic coatings in paper packaging with renewable raw materials such as natural waxes and resins. The coatings protect paper and board against grease, water and water vapour, are storage- and process-stable as well as recyclable, and are used among other things in wrapping papers, baking powder bags and shipping cartons. The company has state-of-the-art development equipment and its own analytics, and builds on decades of emulsion and coating experience from the food industry of its parent company Alfred Willich Produktions GmbH. As part of the ERDF/JTF-funded project BaWaFlex, a pilot plant for producing the coatings is being built and the sealable, flexible barrier coating for food packaging is being brought to market maturity. Initial products are already being marketed to the packaging industry; the team comprises seven employees.
