About WECO
Weco Pyrotechnische Fabrik GmbH (WECO) was founded in 1948 in Eitorf as Pyro-Chemie Hermann Weber & Co. and is one of Germany's established fireworks manufacturers. The company produces sparklers, rockets, firecrackers, display and battery fireworks as well as youth fireworks and low-noise articles. Since 1997 Weco has manufactured battery fireworks; in 2013 the Pyromould technology was introduced, in which plant fibers, natural starch and calcium carbonate are pressed into a composite material made from renewable raw materials. Through its subsidiary Newco Safety Technologies in Kiel, the company produces pyrotechnic articles for safety technology; the former SF-Automotive in Freiberg produced pyrotechnic granules for gas generators in airbags. Part of production takes place in Germany, while the majority of fireworks is imported and quality-controlled via an office in China. The headquarters with main plant and a 40,000 m² central warehouse is located in Eitorf; other historic sites are Kiel-Holtenau, Berlin, Hattingen and Freiberg (closed in 2021). In addition to trading, Weco supplies event fireworks and, through Weco Logistik GmbH, brokers commercial and rental space.
