About us
Wein-Mehrweg eG was founded on 24.01.2023 by ten founding companies that together cultivate 5,200 hectares of vineyard area, representing more than 5% of Germany's total vineyard area. The registered cooperative, headquartered in Möglingen (Ludwigsburg district), operates an industry-neutral reusable pool with a deposit system for 0.75-liter wine bottles. At the core of the concept is the first 0.75l wine reusable pool bottle, which is to gradually replace single-use wine bottles and thereby save resources, energy and waste. The cooperative acts as the platform and distributor of the bottle system; washing of the reusable bottles is carried out by Weingärtner-Service-Gesellschaft mbH (WSG) in Möglingen, while users are also free to use other washing facilities. Membership is open to all types of businesses – cooperatives, wineries, cellars and other distributors of wines – regardless of origin. The goal is to preserve wine-growing culture in Germany and to strengthen customer loyalty in retail through returnable bottle returns.
