About the Estate

The Wein- und Sektgut BARTH is a family-run winegrowing estate in Hattenheim in the Rheingau, founded in 1948 by Johann Barth as Weingut Hans Barth. Today, around 20 hectares of vineyards are cultivated, predominantly Riesling and Burgundy (Pinot) vines in VDP-classified single vineyard sites such as Hassel, Wisselbrunnen, Schützenhaus, Schönhell and Lenchen. Since 2010, the estate has been farmed consistently organically; the wines are vegan. The estate produces wines and, since 1978, sparkling wines, which have been made entirely in-house since the early 1990s – with a second fermentation in the bottle and long ageing on the lees. Mark Barth, holder of the title "Der Riesling-Meister"
