About the Winery

Weingut Fürst Löwenstein is a family-owned agricultural enterprise of the Princely House of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, based in Kleinheubach in Lower Franconia. Founded in 1611, it looks back on a 400-year winemaking tradition. The winery manages around 20 ha of vineyards, including the VDP.Grosse Lage Homburger Kallmuth in Franconia and, since 1875, vineyard sites in Hallgarten in the Rheingau such as Hallgartener Schönhell and Hallgartener Hendelberg. The varieties planted are 60% Silvaner, 25% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir and 5% Sauvignon Blanc; the wines are marketed according to the VDP classification system as Gutswein (estate wine), Ortswein (village wine), Erste Lage and Grosse Lage. The organically managed winery has been a member of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) since 1919. The wines mature in Löwenstein Castle, built in 1725, among other vessels in 500-litre tonneau oak barrels, and are sold via the on-site wine shop as well as mail order. The business also includes events, wine tastings and the rental of the Fürsthof as an event venue.
