About the Winery

Weingut Hoffmann Alte Schrotmühle is a family-run wine-growing estate in the wine village of Höhnstedt in the Saale-Unstrut growing region. The Hoffmann family cultivates almost 5 hectares of vineyards themselves and grows regionally typical grape varieties, including Merlot as a specialty. The business was established in 1991 as a part-time operation and has been run full-time since 2000; its seat is the Alte Schrotmühle (Old Grist Mill) at Hauptstraße 35a, won at auction in 1998 and converted. In addition to wine, sparkling wine (Sekt), brandies and liqueurs are produced in-house. The offering includes a farm shop, online shop, individually bookable wine seminars and wine tastings as well as events such as concerts, farm festivals, exhibitions and family celebrations. The winery stands equally for wine production, direct marketing and event hosting.
