About the Winery
The Johann Donabaum winery is a family-owned winery in Spitz, Lower Austria, in the side valley Spitzer Graben of the wine-growing region Wachau. The company cultivates vineyards on the steep terraces of the Wachau and produces white wines, especially Grüner Veltliner and Riesling. The wines mature on soils of gneiss, slate, loess, sand, marble and volcanic rock. As a member of Vinea Wachau, the winery is committed to natural wine production with secured origin and strict self-monitoring; the wines are marketed according to the quality levels Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaragd. In addition to viticulture, the winery offers tastings and accommodation for guests and sells its wines via a list of retailers as well as direct sales.
