About the Winery
The winery Stift Göttweig is a winegrowing estate of Göttweig Benedictine Abbey in Furth bei Göttweig in Lower Austria and is one of the oldest winegrowing estates in Austria. Vineyards were already documented in the Abbey's founding charter from 1083. The winery produces classic wines from the Kremstal wine region, including Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Noir from sites such as Pfaffenberg, Silberbichl and Gottschelle on Göttweig Hill. The estate is run by Weingut Stift Göttweig GmbH, which operates, maintains and manages the Abbey's winery. Tastings and visitor tours take place in the historic wine cellar at the tasting location Stadtgraben 11 in the centre of Krems. Distribution is handled through trading partners in Austria as well as in numerous European and international markets.
