About Wetzel

Wetzel Karlsbader Oblaten- und Waffelfabrik GmbH is a family-owned company in Dillingen an der Donau and, according to its own information, the only manufacturer of Karlsbader Oblaten in Germany. The company produces wafer-thin oblaten according to the recipe of the Reichenbach monks, which are filled with butter, sugar, almonds and hazelnuts and baked twice, as well as Dessert Creme Oblaten and wafer specialities. Production takes place on an industrial, machine-based scale, a process that was already introduced in the 1960s. The raw materials used include flour, sugar, butter, almonds, hazelnuts, around 40 tonnes of cocoa mass per year, and exclusively 100% RSPO-certified palm oil. In addition to distribution via food retail, the company offers customised printing and packaging of round tins for B2B promotional gifts as well as its own factory outlet in Dillingen. Production has been certified to IFS Food since 2009.
