The Manufactory
Wharfedale Gardens is a one-man distillery in Eggersdorf near Graz in Styria, producing premium spirits by hand under the direction of founder and Master Distiller Markus Alexander Schlamadinger. The range includes London Dry Gin, Navy Strength Gin, Sloe Gin and vodka, as well as the Eaux-de-Vie series “The Origins” with fine brandies made from raspberries and Williams Christ pears. All products are distilled in a 60-litre copper still fired exclusively with Styrian beechwood that has been seasoned for at least two years — a traditional process that allows gentle, even heat. Batches are limited to a maximum of 100 hand-numbered bottles. The spirits mature for months to years in the centuries-old clay cellar with brick vaulting; cold filtration is deliberately omitted in order to preserve aromas and essential oils. Bottling, sealing with sealing wax and labelling are all done by hand. The spirits have received international awards, including Gold at the World Gin Awards 2023 and 2024 as well as 96 Falstaff points, and are featured in starred restaurants and upscale bars.
