About Wheelguard
Wheelguard GmbH, based in Wildeshausen near Bremen, develops and distributes the world's first intelligent wheel bolt. Inside the standard-compliant, visually unobtrusive bolt, a sensor with a Bluetooth transmitter is integrated that detects loosening of the bolt and forwards the warning in real time via an OBD2 gateway in the vehicle to a cloud-based IoT backend. From there, the driver receives a notification via a smartphone app or the vehicle's infotainment system indicating which wheel nuts have come loose. In addition to use in the automotive sector, the system is suitable for monitoring other bolted connections, for example in wind turbines. The IoT connector, developed in-house for registration and vehicle configuration, is compatible with existing fleet management systems, so that pool vehicles from car rental companies, freight forwarders or carsharing providers can be monitored centrally. For worldwide connectivity, Wheelguard works with A1 Digital; the multi-network SIM cards enable real-time data transmission even in regions with poor infrastructure in 140 countries.
