About Wiesmann
Wiesmann Sports Cars GmbH is a German sports car manufacturer based in Dülmen, Westphalia. The company was founded in 1988 by the brothers Martin and Friedhelm Wiesmann and has since produced individually configured roadsters and coupés by hand. In the 'Gecko' manufactory – a workshop building shaped after the company emblem with an integrated showroom, design and development department – every vehicle is built to order in small series, with around 350 hours of pure handcrafting going into each car. Bodies are not pressed but shaped by hand in the tradition of classic coachbuilders; the customer determines material, upholstery and finish down to the smallest detail. Engines and drivetrain components historically came from technology partner BMW, a partnership in existence since 1994. After insolvency in 2013 and temporary closure in 2014, the company was acquired in 2016 by Contec Global under Roheen Berry. In 2022, a fully electric roadster was presented with 'Project Thunderball'; the portfolio also includes maintenance, repair, retrofit consulting and parts supply for vehicles of the brand.
