About Paul & Sohn
Wilhelm Paul & Sohn GmbH is a family-run scrap and recycling company based in Gronau (Westphalia) that has been active in scrap and metal recycling since 1948. The company accepts metal waste from industrial and trade businesses, dealers and private customers, weighs deliveries directly and feeds the materials cleanly sorted into the recycling cycle. Its range of services includes container service, regular collections and customised disposal solutions for commercial customers; private customers can hand in scrap at daily rates. Every delivery is documented and inspected: since 2014 both operating sites have been equipped with radioactivity measuring systems, and since 2012 a portable X-ray fluorescence analyser (XRF) has been used for the precise determination of metal quality. As a certified disposal specialist company, the company combines a long-standing tradition with modern recycling technology and ensures the safe, environmentally sound processing of metals in the Münsterland.

X-ray fluorescence analysis
Since 2012, a portable XRF analyser has been used for the exact determination of the material composition of metals, even with externally similar scrap grades.
Radioactivity measurement
Since 2014, radioactivity measuring systems at both sites automatically check all delivered materials for radiation exposure.

Safety and quality
Every delivery is inspected and documented: radioactivity measuring systems at both sites have been detecting even the lowest radiation levels since 2014, and since 2012 an XRF analyser has been determining the exact metal quality for a transparent, market-based valuation. The company is certified as an Entsorgungsfachbetrieb (certificates from 2012-2013 through at least 2021-2022).
