About Wilhelm Schmid

Since 1886, Wilhelm Schmid Stielfabrik Ofterdingen GmbH has been producing wooden tool and implement handles at its Ofterdingen site in Baden-Württemberg. The product range includes handles for shovels, scrapers, forks, spades, brooms, rakes, hoes, mattocks and hammers, as well as forestry tool handles and wooden wedges, partly according to DIN standards such as DIN 20151 and DIN 20152. The wood species used are ash, beech and softwood, which are correctly dried and processed warp-free and shrink-resistant. For applications subject to heavy loads and high demands on bending strength, handles are steam-bent. Finishing is carried out according to customer specification: end-milled, pointed, drilled, moulded, riveted or fitted with a ferrule (clamp) and cap. In addition to handle manufacturing, the company operates a sawmill with firewood sales. Customers are found in the tool industry, agriculture, gardening and landscaping, forestry, as well as among cleaning equipment and broom manufacturers. The minimum order quantity is 25 pieces per item.
