About Acoustic Solid
Wirth Tonmaschinenbau GmbH from Altdorf near Ludwigsburg has been manufacturing high-end turntables in manufactory production under the Acoustic Solid brand since 1996. The family-run company with six employees works with a high level of vertical integration: platters made of solid aluminium are CNC precision-turned and hand-polished, bearing spindles made of stainless steel are ground, bearing sleeves are cast. The bearing technology uses Teflon, ceramic, ruby and a cast plain bearing lining (Optimum Technology). Electronics such as microcontroller controls for speed regulation and motor electronics are developed and manufactured in-house. Only the synchronous motor (Berger Lahr) is purchased externally. The drive units are produced in small quantities and exported to more than 40 countries, primarily to Asia and Japan. Sales and legal entity for the international market is Acoustic Solid International B.V. in Rosmalen, the Netherlands.
