About Witt Insel-Gemüse
Witt Insel-Gemüse GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1988 and markets Fehmarn red, white and savoy cabbage in Germany and partly throughout Europe. The company itself farms 50 ha of cabbage cultivation land with two permanent employees; planting takes place in May/June and harvesting from October to December with the support of German and Polish workers. The harvested cabbage is temporarily stored in eight cold-storage halls; processing is carried out using modern compressed-air technology. Marketing usually runs from November to May. The location is Blieschendorf 6 in Landkirchen on Fehmarn. The mild maritime climate, the wind, the iodine-rich air and the absence of industry on the island shape the quality of the cabbage.
