Wolfgang Jans Kieswerke Mielberg GmbH is an owner-managed family business founded in 1988 and headquartered in Selk (district of Schleswig-Flensburg). The company operates its own gravel works in the region, where it extracts gravel and sand that is screened in-house and processed into around 50 grades. The product range includes quality-monitored concrete aggregates according to DIN EN 12620, road construction materials such as gravel base courses, wall stones and boulders, topsoil and recycled materials; in addition, special grades such as foundry sand and glass sand are supplied. With 75 employees and its own fleet of 40 vehicles, Jans Natur Kies delivers to the greater Schleswig, Flensburg, Rendsburg-Eckernförde and Norderdithmarschen areas in any quantity desired and on customer-specified dates; a truck rental service rounds out the offering. Customers include civil and structural engineering companies, road construction, landscaping and hydraulic engineering firms, home improvement stores and private customers. Depleted gravel pits are subsequently renaturalised and developed as biotopes.
