About Wolman Wood and Fire Protection
Wolman Wood and Fire Protection GmbH develops, produces and distributes wood protection chemicals as well as passive fire protection products for industrial users. Founded in 1911, the company is regarded as the inventor of modern wood protection and offers solutions for the impregnation of outdoor wood, construction timber, temporary protection of sawn timber and protection of wood-based materials. The company has had experience in fire protection since 1952: the portfolio includes the intumescent materials Interdens and Exterdens, the fire protection board Palusol, the wood fire protection systems Wolmanit Firestop and Wolmanit Antiflamm, cable fire protection systems under the KBS brand, as well as customised special solutions under Flamastic. Production takes place at three German sites: wood protection and fire protection range in Sinzheim, fire protection production in Frankenthal, and fire protection production with an R&D laboratory and its own fire testing facility in Illertissen. Since May 2023, the company has been part of Sika as a member of the MBCC Group. Certifications to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 as well as a DAkkS-accredited biological testing laboratory confirm the quality and environmental standards.

Wood species, wood-based materials and fire protection technologies
Pine, spruce, fir
Native softwoods, frequently used for pressure impregnation, blue stain protection and construction timber impregnation in outdoor and indoor applications.
Larch, Douglas fir
Woods for outdoor use and landscaping, also requiring protection depending on the application.
Oak, beech, robinia, bangkirai
Hardwoods with different protection requirements depending on durability and treatability.
Particleboard, OSB, fibreboard (MDF/HDF), plywood
Wood-based materials for construction, packaging and furniture industries, protected against fungal and insect attack with Xyligen 30 F or Wolsit T.
Glulam (glued laminated timber)
Construction material for load-bearing structures, pressure-impregnable with Wolmanit Firestop for fire protection requirements.
Phosphate- and graphite-based intumescents
Systems that intumesce in the event of fire, forming an insulating protective layer from approx. 150 °C.
Silicate technology (Palusol)
Hydrated, glass-fibre-reinforced silicate with epoxy resin coating that forms a pressure-resistant foam under expansion pressure when exposed to heat.
Ablative coatings
Endothermically reacting systems for heat absorption and flame retardancy at higher temperatures.
