About Wood & Chisel
Wood & Chisel was founded in Vienna as a sales agency for manufacturers of oriental intarsia art (marquetry). The main workshop represented is located in the old town of Damascus (Syria) and employs craftsmen with a long-standing tradition in the art of inlay work. Fully handcrafted products are made, such as coffee tables and stools, backgammon and chess boards, mirror frames, jewellery and tea boxes as well as wall decoration. Syrian and American walnut wood are used along with mother of pearl from the Philippines, as well as olive and lemon wood, bone and tin inlays, epoxy and chrome underframes. Every piece is created by hand using traditional tools; in addition to classic oriental patterns, modern in-house designs are also created. The products are sold via the online shop with worldwide shipping, custom-order production and a money-back guarantee; the website is available in German, Arabic and English.
