About Wotan Zement

Wotan Zement GmbH & Co. KG is a medium-sized family company headquartered in Üxheim-Ahütte in the Vulkaneifel region. The basis of cement production is limestone from the Hillesheim limestone basin, which is extracted in several company-owned quarries. From limestone and marl, cement clinker is burned in a rotary kiln, which is subsequently ground with additives such as blast furnace slag, trass and limestone in ball mills into twelve cement types. The portfolio comprises Portland, Portland limestone, Portland slag, Portland pozzolanic (trass cement), blast furnace and composite cements according to EN 197-1 as well as soil and base layer binders according to DIN 18506. The products are loaded as silo goods, bagged goods (25 kg and 50 kg) and, on request, as big bags. Customers include construction sites, ready-mix concrete plants, precast concrete operations and the building materials trade. The delivery area covers Rhineland-Palatinate, the Saarland, southern North Rhine-Westphalia as well as Luxembourg, Belgium, the southern Netherlands and France.

Quality and monitoring

Quality assurance begins in the quarry with drill cuttings analysis performed by the company's own plant laboratory; intermediate and final products are continuously sampled and compressive strength is tested. Internal monitoring is complemented by external monitoring by the VDZ, which has been in place for many years, according to EN 197-1, DIN 18506 and EN 413-1; in addition, BENOR, KOMO and AFNOR certificates exist for individual types.
