About wpd
wpd GmbH, headquartered in Bremen, is a developer and operator (IRPP) of wind and solar parks. Founded in 1996, the company accompanies projects over their entire lifetime – from land securing through permitting, financing and turbine procurement to construction, commissioning and technical operations management via the in-house control centre of its sister company wpd windmanager. To date, 578 projects with around 2,951 turbines and a total capacity of over 7,175 MW have been realised, including onshore wind farms, offshore projects such as Butendiek (288 MW) and solar parks. The owned portfolio amounts to 3,644 MW; the project pipeline comprises 38,545 MW of onshore wind and 8,015 MW of solar energy. With 1,400 employees, wpd is active in 32 countries across Europe, Asia, North and Latin America; in addition to its main Bremen location, the company maintains twelve further sites in Germany, including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Leipzig. Services also include repowering, PPA structuring as well as commercial and technical operations management.
