About the Wurzer Umwelt Group
The Wurzer Unternehmensgruppe is a family-run company based in Eitting in Upper Bavaria, founded in 1984 by Franz Wurzer, specializing in the circular economy, environmental services as well as disposal and logistics. The group comprises Wurzer Umwelt GmbH (environmental protection, disposal and recycling), Wurzer Umweltdienst GmbH (landscape and watercourse maintenance) and Wurzer Logistik GmbH (transport, container service, yellow bag collection). In the circular economy, Wurzer operates facilities for waste wood processing, composting, biogas fermentation, commercial waste sorting and processing of mineral materials (Mineralik) as well as treatment plants for artificial mineral fibers and asbestos. The commercial waste sorting plant in Eitting processes around 80,000 tonnes per year; the biogas plant, in operation since 1997, ferments organic residual materials into electricity, heat and compost. Secondary raw materials, substitute fuels, composts, soils and substrates are produced from organic and mineral material streams. The planned BioEnergieZentrum (BEZ) is to ferment 120,000 t/a of biowaste and generate approx. 9.1 million m³/a of biomethane. The main site is Eitting (270,000 m²) near Munich Airport, with further sites in Waldkraiburg and Bichl.
