About XeedQ
XeedQ GmbH was founded in 2021 by Dr. Gopi Balasubramanian and develops quantum computers that operate at room temperature. The XQ1 and XQ2 systems use electron and nuclear spins at nitrogen-vacancy centers (NV centers) in diamond as qubits; scaling is achieved via dipolar coupling between NV centers. The XQ1 system provides a register of four or more spin qubits, while the XQ2 system features two coupled NV centers with eight qubits in a tree topology, controlled via DEER pulse sequences. The offering includes the full software stack with Python and Qiskit as well as installation and deployment of the systems. Customers include research institutes, universities and industry partners in quantum education and research, among them the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative in Ulm, the University of Frankfurt and Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences; systems have also been installed internationally, for example in the USA. The company is based in Leipzig (administration and management) as well as in Ulm and Frankfurt (research and development) and conducts research into methods for positioning NV centers such as ion beam implantation and diamond surface treatment.
