About ZeMA
ZeMA – Center for Mechatronics and Automation Technology is a non-profit research center in Saarbrücken and operates as part of its transformation under the name SEI – Saarland Engineering Institute. The institute offers contract research for industry – from idea to industrial implementation – and conducts active technology transfer through an industrial network with partners such as Woll, consistec, K4 DIGITAL and Hydac. Focus areas include assembly systems and flexible production, laser material processing with online process monitoring and control, robot-based surface finishing, bin picking, condition monitoring and AI-based quality assurance. The Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Saarbrücken is based at ZeMA and was the first competence center in Germany to provide AI trainers for SMEs. Further topics include cybersecurity for digital production (SecMa 4.0), fuel cell technology, adaptive series production of small satellites (SatX2Factory) as well as neuroergonomics and human-machine interaction (CDNS). The institute is also engaged in academic education and offers workshops and technology tours.
