About Us

ZAUG gGmbH (Zentrum Arbeit und Umwelt – Gießener gemeinnützige Berufsbildungsgesellschaft mbH) is a municipally owned qualification company based in Gießen. For over 35 years, it has offered training, qualification, and employment opportunities for young people and adults from the City and District of Gießen with the aim of (re-)integration into the labor market. Since 1988, it has operated training workshops, special enterprises, and commercial businesses for vocational training and qualification close to the workplace. The offering includes non-company training and integrative training (Reha and BaE), career orientation and preparation, retraining, advanced training, activation support for younger individuals, INQA coaching, job agent services, QuABB, corporate consulting, and the 'Im Dreisprung zur Ausbildung' project. A production workshop manufactures and distributes marketable wood products using upcycling; furthermore, ZAUG operates the catering service Tischlein Deck Dich for daycares and schools. Clients include the EU, Federal Government, State of Hesse, Jobcenter Gießen, Employment Agency, schools, and municipalities. Shareholders are the City of Gießen, the District of Gießen, and other cities and municipalities in the region.

The work is aimed at equal participation, gender-equitable vocational training, and individual support of participants; ZAUG is a signatory of the Diversity Charter and operates its own photovoltaic system and a model kitchen for the State of Hesse as an ecological company to reduce CO2.
