About us
Behind Roots & Sprouts is ZEOK e. V. (register court Leipzig Local Court, VR 3975), a non-profit association for the promotion of intercultural dialogue. A central part of its work is the Roots & Sprouts Festival in Leipzig: an open-air/cultural festival with transcultural music, concerts, DJ sets, workshops, panel talks and a children's programme, understood as a place of cultural exchange and encounter for all. The 2024 festival under the motto “moving rituals” was held free of charge; after a pause in 2026, it returns on 12 and 13 September to Leipzig's Kulturnhalle (motto “Shifting Voices”). Funding comes from donations, crowdfunding and public grants, enabling free admission and fair payment for the artists. The team consists of musicians, music educators, graphic designers and journalists. It is not a manufacturing operation.
