About Ziegelei Götz
Ziegelei Götz e.K. in Reckendorf (Bamberg district, Upper Franconia) produces clay building materials under the registered trademark Terra Forma®. The company processes clay with a high clay content, which is extracted predominantly from its own clay pit located directly adjacent to the production hall; in addition, the company takes in excavated construction clay from the region for processing. The product portfolio includes clay bricks, clay plaster, clay mortar, clay backfill, rammed earth, clay wall heating, insulation, clay building panels, clay paints, specialty clays, upcycling products and accessories. The clay bricks are kneaded, shaped in a strut extruder, cut and air-dried; for plasters, backfills and upcycling products, the clay is dried, crushed, sieved and mixed with sands, flax shives, miscanthus, spelt husks, recycled cork, hazelnut shells or coffee grounds. Customers include tradespeople, architects and private clients in the fields of clay building, ecological construction, renovation and new construction. In addition, the company offers seminars, workshops and building biology consulting; the production hall's electricity supply comes from its own photovoltaic system.

Raw Materials and Processes
Clay (high clay content)
Main raw material from the company's own clay pit; the high clay content provides heat storage capacity, sorption capacity and surface stability.
Construction clay (excavated material)
Regional excavated material is accepted as a raw material, tested and processed into suitable clay building materials.
Sand
Aggregate sourced regionally wherever possible for plasters and backfills.
Flax shives
Biogenic aggregate for lighter clay building materials and insulation products.
Miscanthus
Plant-based aggregate for mixing depending on the application.
Spelt husks
By-product from agriculture, used in upcycled clay products.
Recycled cork
Reused raw material for upcycled clay products.
Hazelnut shells
Biogenic aggregate for upcycled clay products.
Coffee grounds
Processing of a residual material as an aggregate for upcycled clay products.
Straw chaff
Regionally sourced biogenic aggregate for clay building materials.

Quality and Sustainability
The clay from the company's own pit is exposed to sun and frost for at least one year before processing; from it, Terra Forma® products with a high clay content and thus high heat storage capacity, sorption capacity and surface stability are created. Not every construction clay is suitable for every clay building material – testing and processing of the natural material is the core of quality assurance.
