About abcr – Good Chemistry Since 1987
abcr GmbH, headquartered in Karlsruhe, is an internationally active full-service provider of specialty chemicals with a portfolio of more than 400,000 products – from gram quantities to tons. The company was founded in 1987 by Dr. Norbert Braunagel and is today led by Dr. Jan Schuricht as a family-managed group under the umbrella of abcr group GmbH. Core services include custom syntheses (abcr service lab, 600 m² of laboratory space), scale-up and production of specialty chemicals at kilogram scale (abcr Kilo Lab, 110 m²) as well as in-house production at abcr labs in Forcarei, Spain (6,000 m², since 2010). The product range covers silicon compounds and silanes, organofluorine compounds, lithium compounds for batteries and fuel cells, ceramic powders, borides, carbides, nitrides, fullerenes, graphene, nanomaterials and sputtering targets. These are complemented by R&D services such as synthesis development, feasibility studies and contract research (FTE), analytics, bulk & sourcing with more than 8,000 suppliers, decanting down to the thousandth of a gram, and hazardous goods logistics (IATA, ADR, IMO) on 3,200 m² of warehouse space. Subsidiaries exist in Switzerland, France, Ireland and the United Kingdom; exclusive partners include Höganäs, KYOCERA Fineceramics Precision, Evonik and Vertellus.
