About Nikon
Nikon Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of optics and precision equipment headquartered in the Tokyo ward of Shinagawa. The portfolio includes digital cameras and Nikkor lenses, semiconductor and flat-panel-display lithography systems, microscopes and ophthalmic imaging systems, industrial measuring and inspection equipment, optical components, and systems for metal additive manufacturing. Optical glass has been produced since 1917 and lenses since 1925. Camera production has been fully consolidated in Thailand north of Bangkok since the end of 2020, while individual components are manufactured in Japan. Since the 2010s, Nikon has been expanding its business beyond classic imaging and precision technology into healthcare, industrial technologies and digital manufacturing – among other things through the acquisitions of Optos (2015), SLM Solutions (2023) and RED Digital Cinema (2024). The company belongs to the Mitsubishi group.
