The Company
Schlicker GmbH is an owner-managed mid-sized manufacturer of electromechanical components based in Radevormwald. The company produces circular connectors in the Toughcon modular system, connectors to DIN 41612 including standard-extending variants, as well as strip conductors, shorting bridges and accessories for 19-inch backplanes. In addition, Schlicker develops and manufactures application-specific connector solutions and hard-to-source spare parts for discontinued products from Thomas & Betts, Tyco and Euracontact. The value chain covers development, tool design and toolmaking, stamping, injection moulding, low-pressure encapsulation, cable assembly and manual assembly — even in small quantities and as special solutions. Production is carried out, among other things, in brass (CuZn), copper and plastics such as PBTP. Customers can be found in automation technology, rail technology, energy technology, mechanical engineering and switchgear manufacturing. The company has been ISO 9001 certified since 1996.

Materials & Processes
Brass (CuZn), tin-plated surface
Contact material for backplane power rails and connector components.
Copper
Material for strip conductors (busbar power rails), which are cut to length, straightened and overmoulded in-house.
PBTP (UL 94 V-0)
Injection-moulding plastic for insulating bodies and contact carriers with a temperature range of -65 °C to +125 °C.
Low-pressure encapsulation
Process integrated since 2010 for the encapsulation of components, implemented in cooperation with PFLITSCH GmbH & Co. KG.

Quality Assurance
Quality assurance at the Radevormwald site is equipped with two profile projectors, two measuring microscopes, coating thickness gauges, a tensile-compression testing machine, temperature recorders and, since 2014, a digital 3D measuring projector IM-6120. Strip conductors are tested 100 % with an overvoltage test; the QM system has been ISO 9001 certified since 1996.
