About smoovotech

smoovotech GmbH is a company for urban mobility solutions founded in 2023 in Garrel, Lower Saxony. Founder Heiko Plorinn developed the idea of a foldable bicycle trailer starting in 2022, from which the folding trailer nick emerged; later the children's balance bike mika was added. Both products are developed in Germany and manufactured in Garrel: the children's balance bike mika is produced entirely on-site at Roland Werk, an established component manufacturer in the bicycle industry; for the trailer nick, the essential components come from Germany, with final assembly taking place in Garrel. The frame and fork of mika are made of German beech wood, complemented by recyclable carbon composite; all wear parts and almost all components are replaceable. The development involved more than two years of work, numerous prototypes, practical tests for safety and function, as well as DIN testing. For its sustainable approach, the children's balance bike mika received the EUROBIKE Green Award 2026.
