About Spark e-Fuels
Spark e-Fuels is a Berlin-based technology company developing a patented, load-flexible e-fuel synthesis technology for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The two-stage process combines RWGS syngas production with a modified Fischer-Tropsch reaction: hydrocarbons are synthesized from CO2 and green hydrogen as liquid energy carriers. The process can be coupled directly to fluctuating electricity generation from renewable energies, operates at lower temperatures, achieves a high CO conversion per pass, and requires no large hydrogen storage, no CO2 recycling streams and no grid connection. The team of chemists, engineers and entrepreneurs is currently developing the next generation of the RWGS reaction, scaling a decentralized production system with a development partner and preparing a demonstration plant. Collaborations exist, among others, with Bilfinger (demonstration plant engineering); the pilot project is supported by IBB Pro FIT funding.
