About Stadtgemüse
Stadtgemüse UG (haftungsbeschränkt) develops the NEUE HYDROPONIK system solution: soilless cultivation using a washable, silica-based growth medium designed according to Cradle-to-Cradle principles. The food-safe granulate is made from industrial waste and is washed rather than disposed of after each harvest, enabling cultivation without substrate waste. The system solution consists of three components: the substrate, an energy-growing-gutter that directly heats and cools the root zone (up to 20% heating cost savings, retrofittable in existing greenhouses), and a cleaning system that processes the substrate on site. Target groups are greenhouse operators, planners of rooftop greenhouse and sponge-city projects, and investors. The system has been in practical use since 2022, patent pending; in 2025 the company won 2nd place at the Sozialinnovator Award.
