About Tecosol
Tecosol GmbH operates a multi-feedstock biodiesel production plant in Ochsenfurt, where oils and fats are processed into fatty acid methyl esters (biodiesel) by transesterification with methanol. The plant comprises four production lines, each adapted to different feedstocks. Raw materials used include used cooking oils and fats (UCO), crude and refined vegetable oils, vegetable fatty acids, crude glycerines as well as soap- and oil-containing residues from the vegetable oil processing industry. Products include Campa biodiesel certified to DIN EN 14214, fuels for engines, CHP units and cogeneration plants to DIN V 51605, the registered bio-heating fuel Liquid Organic Energy (LOE), glycerines of various grades, and as by-products vegetable fatty acids and potassium sulfate. The raw material mix of waste and residual materials enables a CO2 saving potential of over 90 percent compared with fossil diesel. An on-site laboratory accompanies production, a pilot plant enables trials at model scale; the plant operates in three shifts. The subsidiary Hydroxy Energy GmbH (founded 2016) handles glycerine refining; purchasing and sales are handled via ZG Raiffeisen Biofuels GmbH.

Raw Materials & Processes
Used cooking oils and fats (UCO)
Waste material pursuant to the Biokraftstoff-Nachhaltigkeitsverordnung (Biofuel Sustainability Ordinance) and an essential component of the raw material mix.
Crude and refined vegetable oil
Classical starting material for transesterification into fatty acid methyl esters.
Vegetable fatty acids
Used as a raw material and at the same time arises as a by-product.
Alkaline crude glycerines
Resulting glycerine phases are recovered and recycled via Hydroxy Energy.
Methanol
Single-component alcohol for the transesterification of triglycerides into fatty acid methyl esters.
Biodiesel (fatty acid methyl esters, Campa biodiesel)
Fuel for engines and CHP/cogeneration plants to DIN EN 14214 or DIN V 51605.
Liquid Organic Energy (LOE)
Registered bio-heating fuel for combined heat and power units.
Potassium sulfate
By-product marketed as a plant fertiliser.
