About Volkswind
Volkswind GmbH is a specialist in onshore wind energy headquartered in Ganderkesee, Lower Saxony. Founded in 1993 by former Enercon employees Martin Daubner and Matthias Stommel, the company develops, finances, plans, erects and operates wind farms, taking on all tasks in the process chain from the first idea to commissioning. In addition to project development, the service portfolio includes technical and commercial management services provided by the subsidiary Volkswind Service as well as the repowering of older turbines with modern technology. To date, the interdisciplinary, international team has erected more than 90 wind farms with a total capacity of around 1,600 MW; the turbines supply electricity to around 650,000 four-person households. Since its sale to the Swiss energy supplier Axpo in 2015, Volkswind has been part of the Axpo Group and, as an independent power producer (IPP), is one of Germany's largest wind farm operators. At 14 locations in Germany, France, Finland and Romania, the company is working on the further expansion of wind energy.
