The W. Rüegg AG is a timber construction company founded in 1905 and now run by the fourth generation, based in Kaltbrunn in the canton of St. Gallen. The medium-sized family business is organised into three divisions — joinery, timber construction and construction planning — and produces everything from kitchen cabinets to furniture, doors and bathrooms through to turnkey implementation of single-family homes, multi-family houses, student dormitories and industrial buildings. Planning takes place in the company's own architecture and construction planning department using modern CAD tools; production in the approximately 5500 m² facility in Kaltbrunn is highly digitalised and networked. Sustainably produced wood, veneers and panel materials are processed on CNC systems for timber framing, panel cutting, veneer pressing, edge gluing and wide-belt sanding. As a general or total contractor, Rüegg carries out complete construction projects from land acquisition via civil and structural engineering through to handover of the keys; its focus of activity is the greater Lake Zurich/Lake Walen region. In addition to rooftop extensions in lightweight element construction, refurbishments and extensions, the company with 70 employees including 12 apprentices operates its own showroom in Kaltbrunn.
