About Widap AG

Widap AG manufactures and distributes power resistors and load banks, develops customised solutions for rail technology, and produces reactive power compensation systems (conventional and dynamic) as well as harmonic filters (active and passive). The portfolio also includes electrical systems and apparatus as well as an extensive range of electrical components such as load disconnect switches, load changeover switches, fuses, energy meters, motor protection filters and busbar systems. In resistor technology, the company produces open-wound wire resistors, cemented and glazed wire resistors, cast iron and steel grid resistors, railway and braking resistors, potentiometers and PTC heaters; materials used include edge-wound special resistance ribbon, CuNi and CrNi wire, ceramics, aluminium die casting and galvanised steel. The motor protection switches produced in Switzerland (Type 40, TP10) are characterised by robustness even under adverse environmental conditions. Customers are found in rail technology, power supply, power distribution, industry/automation, agriculture and power quality. The headquarters is located in Schmitten (CH), complemented by branches in Diessenhofen, Hirschthal, Dachau (DE) and Castellanza (IT).
