About Wilckens Farben

Wilckens Farben GmbH is an owner-managed manufacturer of paints and coating systems based in Glückstadt. Founded in 1845, the family-owned company produces several thousand tonnes of high-performance coatings annually, which are used in the yacht, marine, industrial and decorative applications sectors. A focus is on antifouling products in self-polishing (SPC) and hard formulations, which protect ship hulls from fouling, reduce fuel consumption and prevent corrosion. The product range also includes filler systems as well as technical documentation such as safety data sheets and product data sheets. Originally started as a grain trading and milling business, the company switched to paint production in the 1920s and moved to synthetic paint manufacturing in the 1930s. In the late 1990s, the operation relocated to a modern production site on the outskirts of Glückstadt. Under the leadership of Dr. Marcus and Michel Wilckens, the company distributes its products, among other channels, through a sales company in Turkey. In 2020, Max and Johan Wilckens, representatives of the next generation, joined the company.
